Jeff Report post Posted May 26, 2015 Last year I bought a bolted model 1/2" Versa-Matic poly pump. I had posted at one point last year about the bolts coming loose in a short period of time,..I do remember it leaking on the very first job I used it on. So,..I tightened the bolts to proper torque specs, used lock washers and red Loctite. Running at 85 PSI it held for awhile,..now are loose again and will not seat down the top manifold to the body of the pump,..and is leaking from the flanges where the two pieces mate together. Doesn't leak like a spray,. but trickles with every "pump". stroke. Probably got a lemon but will be my last Versa-Matic pump I think,..and possibly the last bolted model. As far as the pump itself, it works well and doesn't stall,.but this leaking issue is a pain. Most likely going to try and plastic weld it as soon as my new pump gets here and I get it replaced. If I ruin it,.so be it,..don't much care,..I hate leaks. Thought of pulling it apart and using some sort of sealant between the flanges to help the seal,..I don't know though. Any suggestions on how to fix this PITA pump? Not gonna put any Versa-Matic rebuild parts in it. It's only a year old,.and if the ones in it are worn,..it will be considered a backup, and fixed the best I can.I ordered an All-Flo like I had before that lasted 5 years and worked very well until it froze and broke. PeakOfPerfection Report post Posted May 29, 2015 It is probably the seat gaskets. They are fairly thin. 99x out of 100 if I have a manifold that is leaking, just change the seals and no more leaking. Send me the complete model number on the pump so I can look up what seat seal material you have. The SH does effect some of them and swapping them with a more resistant material may do the trick...or just get a few spares and swap them out. If you decide to dump it...I buy used pumps. Are the seat gaskets available as a separate piece, or do they come in a rebuild kit?I wouldn't mind putting a LITTLE money into this pump considering it's only about a year old. PeakOfPerfection Report post Posted May 29, 2015 Okay...Poly body, Santoprene diaphragms and yup, you have E510XL seals in Santoprene. Jeff Report post Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) Thanks Kevin, It looks like these are basic o-rings? They seem inexpensive enough,. Also,..are these 0-rings in a typical size,...that I could maybe buy local? I realize the viton is better, and if I order them I will order the viton,..but just to see if the issue is resolved I may install basic o-rings.*I will take it apart as soon as I get the other pump installed. The Versa-Matic is still working well,..and didn't even leak yesterday. PeakOfPerfection Report post Posted June 1, 2015 They are not a typical size and they are usually shaped to fit into a groove created between the seat and the manifold.
