Pressure Washing Your Roof Could Void The Manufacturer's Warranty + will most certainly, to one extent or another, damage it! A pressure washing job would consist of applying chlorine and perhaps soap through a downstream chemical injector-most chemical injectors advertise 20% but some say over 30% like the Alison Super Suds Sucker. Then an average pressure washer is 3000 to 4000 psi. This pressure will not only blow a considerable amount of granules off of a shingled roof, or the glazing / or paint from a tile roof, it will also blast that chlorine application under the shingles or tiles, perhaps reaching nails and fasteners etc under your shingles. With "Non-Pressure" Cleaning, we use 25 to 35% bleach for shingles and up to 50% for tile, as suggested by a few roofing manufacturers, plus Soap and water and only up to 60 psi pressure, just enough to get the roof cleaning mix up on the roof. That's because most roofs, even power washed, stay clean at least that long anyway.
