How do you guys set up payments with residential home owners... ???

Payments on completion or do you guys invoice out and wait to collect on some sort of time frame established prior to starting the cleaning processes... ???

The reason why I am asking is because I have friends in the service industry and they normally collect upon completion and some even get 50% deposits prior to ordering parts etc... Like my HVAC buddies...

Everyone's different, and some have a No Pay No Spray policy on roof cleaning.

Often, we leave a bill, because we do mostly million dollar type homes, and these roof cleaning customers are rich, and would not want the embarassment of not paying you.

Plus, you know where they live :)

I am assuming on a proposal it would state type of work to complete... payment schedule... late payment fee's.... signature... etc... !!!

I like the pay as you go, but, I also like if they are not home and leaving an invoice so this way they are not following you around... bullshitting and wasting time... although... BS gets business as well so it is a catch 22... !!!

I guess it can go both ways depending on the customers personality... My father always taught me... any business in these related fields is all about Psychology... Read them and read them well and decide prior for your payment schedule... !!!

A few of my service buddies told me the same ... collect upon completion PERIOD... !!!

The reasons being is because it is not a weekly maintenance where you bill out once a month... For example: Lawn service, Pool cleaners, etc...

They all said get paid via credit cards on the spot, cash or check, but, def upon completion...

WOW... that is good to know... I know there are interests you pay for accepting cards, but, your fixed to 10% is a big step... I like CASH and checks... !!!

I did not know about the corporate cards that are points earning... Thanks for the heads up... !!!

Many of our client pay upon completion, some prepay (we have a fair number of out of town landlords). We bill out on all our property management company accounts but they send us lots of business so win/win.
