Ok, So this is my second roof this month where the black on the roof is like paint. Its driving me nuts. 4 coats and the roof is still spotted. I use 10 % from SCP . I did 30 of SH and and 60 H2O. It laughed at my mix. attachicon.gif20141106_094303.jpgattachicon.gif20141106_094306.jpgattachicon.gif20141106_114023.jpg

I assume you first blew that pine straw off the roof really good ?

If so, I would consider getting and adding some TSP to your mix.

Not TSP substitute either!

You want 4 ounces per gallon of mix, add it to your water, stir it really good, and allow to soak overnight. Then, add your SH, stir really really good again, and go clean!

If that's considered painted on black then the stuff I see is asphalt.

30sh + 60h2o = 90

Forget the 30/70 bs.  Hit it with 50/50 and tsp and soap mixed in on the first coat. 40/60 or 30/70 on the second coat. If its sunny out it should foam up white immediately. If that doesn't work then your sh is weak or old.

Thanks Mr T.  Is TSP good for all roofs or just the bad ones?

You can use it on any roof, but it makes the best difference on cement tile, it is cheap! Get it here http://www.florida-chemical.com/

50/50 is really rough on the landscaping. I guess if theres gutters its alright but watch the overspray. TSP is super beneficial to the mix. Particularly with white roofs. One cup per five gall. will work wonders. Perhaps some roof snot as well to help it cling.

I've had issues with the GM painted on as well lately.  I chalked it up to the cooler weather. Beef up the mix a bit.  Maybe 30/50

Yes, Interesting how Chris says to let TSP sit in the water overnight, Im guessing No more than 10 gallons, I would not want to make my mix just to find i made it too weak. I do not always see the job before I bid it.

It is not absolutely needed, but TSP is not the most water soluble stuff, and an overnight soak seems to "activate" it better.
