Roof Cleaning Footwear

Recommended Posts

Hello Fellow Roof Cleaners!

Here are a couple good pairs for shoes for walking roofs. They have non-slip bottom and will not damage the shingles.

LOL, if you want to start a great fight, get a bunch of roof cleaners together, and start asking about what shoes they wear.

I don't clean roofs anymore, but when I did, I found a boat deck shoe at Payless that had incredible grip, and lasted about a month.

It had a soft sole, that I prefer, so you can quickly feel yourself getting ready to fall.

It was so good, I took a few days off, and visited every Payless Shoe Store in the Tampa area, and bought up every pair of size 9 they had!

My wide ass feet, and the roof pitch quickly did them in, but they were pure heaven on a roof, for the few years those many pairs lasted me.

But Man, did they ever stink :(

We recently switched to this one and love it.  Works as good as the Cougar Paw for shingles, and way more comfortable.  Last longer to and no pad replacements.  for tile we still use the show for the crews black sneaker.

Second the Korkers. We just did a cedar roof today. Roof is only about 6 years old and it had SOO much debris that we had no choice but to get on it. My guy strapped on his Korkers and went right up no problem. I would't walk a Cedar roof over 10 years old or if you do have to, make it absolutely crystal clear that any shingle damage is NOT covered under warranty. We try to stay off them whenever possible.

And to be clear...these are ONLY for cedar roofs.

As for footwear, we use plain old rubber boots with a good tread we buy at the local hardware store. Keeps the feet dry and the chem off. I've had guys get chem burns on their feet from sneakers before. Keeping the feet dry is also healthier for them.
