Josh Davis Report post Posted May 15, 2014 Anyone using MAO aka Ammonyx M? Local chemical supplier here can get it for me fairly cheap. Gonna give it a try. Any suggestions on mix ratios? 1 Grime Busterz reacted to this

Any suggestions on mix ratios? It is just about THE Ultimate roof surfactant Josh, much better then Ammonyx LO, you will love it! You can use about 1/2 as much of it, compared to any other surfactant. 1 Grime Busterz reacted to this
PeakOfPerfection Report post Posted May 30, 2014 Be careful with Ammonyx Mo. It is GREAT for making the SH Stick, a God Send for steep pitches and mossy roofs and really heavy GM. it is also great for making the SH stick to the plants/siding/windows/decks/etc. even if you do a rinse-down. As Chris said, you will want to use less of it than you would with Ammonyx Lo. We use it all the time and finally settled on a mix percentage that gives us great dwell time and doesn't make the house and plants look like they were frosted. ReNew Roof & Exterior cleaning Report post Posted May 30, 2014 For both my roofs I used 1-44oz bottle of Gain in 50 gallons of mix, used 20 gallons. It stuck quite well, took a while to rinse though.
Josh Davis Report post Posted June 10, 2014 I have used it on a couple roofs so far, and I like it okay, but honestly, it doesn't stick that much better than the Roof Snot I have been using. Roof Snot is a blend of MAO an LO. It would be nice to find a good way to mix the two,and get an easy to pour, high foaming soap like Roof Snot. I love that stuff, but I have to pinch the pennies to keep this business going at this point. MAO an LO are both $75 for 5 gallons with delivery included flat rate with my bleach.Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using Forum Fiend v1.2.7.

Josh, though certain people don't want to admit it, chlorine stable surfactants like Myristamine and Ammonyx were pioneered here at the RCIA. I also published a chart that long ago that showed that a combination of both surfactants, was superior in viscosity to either surfactant by itself. We only use high cling thick surfactants when absolutely needed. Using them all the time on houses w/o gutters is a great way to kill plants. Always remember this Josh, the better it sticks to the shingles, the better it sticks to the plants, and other unwanted things.

It is cheap. I found you really need to play with the mix amounts, and the nozzle you use has a big effect on foaming with the MO. It does stick but may not make as many suds as Snot. As for mixing the two...,get YE a bucket!

Josh Davis Report post Posted June 11, 2014 Yeah, I understand that mixing too much can make it stick to plants. Most of the houses here have gutters though. I'll have to experiment with mixing the two. Maybe I'll try it with Gain.

Advantage Roof Cleaning Report post Posted June 11, 2014 I have also found that using too much Gain leaves a white film on the shingles. I explain to the HO that it will rinse off when it rains.
