fkt Report post Posted October 16, 2013 I filled up (1) 55 gal. drums w/H2O, and 4 boxes of TSP the night before a job. This was Oct.14,2013. Next morning added the rest of mix not realizing the TSP was like a block of ice on the bottom. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
garyw Report post Posted October 16, 2013 TSP needs to be mixed in hot water, let sit over nite and then added to your mix. 55 gals of TSP is quite a lot for roof cleaning. I usually mix about 5 gals of solution into 100 gals of roof mix..

Next time, use HOT Water, let it sit overnight, stir really good, then add your SH! Sometimes, the TSP will not all dissolve, this is expected, and no big deal! Just use a filter on the suction of your pump, to avoid sucking in the undissolved TSP Granules. 1 Spray Force reacted to this
fkt Report post Posted October 16, 2013 garyw, Maybe I worded that wrong. One (55) gallon drum, 40gals of water, 15 gals bleach and 4 boxes of TSP. I hope I said that right. I didn't make 55 gals of TSP. (LOL) I thought you used hot water in the morning before a job or put in cold water the night before and let set. This was one of the BLACKEST roofs I ever did. Thanks G
fkt Report post Posted October 16, 2013 Chris, Great advice. Would never of thought of a filter and reusing the TSP. Thanks

DIRTY-ROOF.COM Report post Posted October 31, 2013 What are you guys using the TSP for? I know its a very good cleaner but i have not needed anything more than my 30/70 w/ some soap. Although we have not had the chance to clean a tile roof yet.
Richard Frisson Report post Posted October 31, 2013 we use tsp in the asphalt cleaning mix only, cleaning strength is the same, but tsp shines the shingles right up. I didn't pay enough attention to the differences with or without it, once chris mentioned it to me i noticed the end result i was like wooooow. Use tsp on gray shingles holy crap it looks smashing. I wouldnt use it on painted tile though, since tsp can etch the paint. 1 fkt reacted to this

But, TSP has no equal, on the right roofs.
fkt Report post Posted November 1, 2013 I agree with Richard and Chris. Asphalt shingles, specifically gray do jump right out you. I did one house with TSP and it really looks clean and bright. The second house ( same color) without the TSP looks dull. It's clean but it doesn't jump out at you. I use it on all asphalt roofs. Good post
fkt Report post Posted November 1, 2013 I just left walmart and picked up a 32oz. bottle of (klean strip) TSP substitute. Has anyone else seen this or tried it?
Richard Frisson Report post Posted November 2, 2013 tsp substitutes are far weaker then tsp in powder form, and have additives also.
