Advantage Roof Cleaning Report post Posted October 23, 2017 In a townhouse subdivision, nearly every building has black spots on the vinyl siding. They are present from the ground to about 8 - 10' up. The townhouses are two story with composite roofs and gutters. I did not have any roof mix with me. I did have a bottle of Purple Power and tried that. The black spots on a small test area came right off. They seem to have suddenly appeared this year. The Property Manager is perplexed. Has anyone seen these before?
Bubbad2u Report post Posted October 25, 2017 Is it shotgun fungus from the mulch?
Advantage Roof Cleaning Report post Posted October 26, 2017 Upon further research I may have identified it as spider poop! If you go to the link below, you will find an image nearly identical to what I saw. ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2400238/spider-poop

Yep. They're on EVERY house in Northern NJ. The last job I did the lady had them on her car.
Curb Appeal Pros LLC Report post Posted January 2, 2018 This is caused from mulch and its called artillery fungus. Its not coming off unless you take a razor to in so just let them know what it is and what its caused from and leave it at that!
Advantage Roof Cleaning Report post Posted January 5, 2018 I don't think it is artillery fungus. There is no mulch near siding. In fact, much of it is over driveways and concrete porches.
