Weak SH from Univar

Recommended Posts

I just opened an account with Univar to receive SH in bulk. My very first shipment was so weak, you could take a bath in it. I looked at the test analysis (see attached) that came with it and it was made back in October 2015! I had jobs lined up that day and could not wait for a return, so we used it anyhow. We still got the job done but had to double up on the mix ratio. I did call Univar to complain. Has anyone else experienced this?

I would call them and DEMAND a refund or replacement. I have had several occasions where they tried to sell me outdated chemicals and i pointed out their own  company policy about shelf life of SH is approx. 30 days.

Next time they ship look at the product label for manufacture date. It should read "CIO3698470" which translates to "cinn.ohio,3rd month,9th day, and the rest are shift # and other lot numbers,Etc.  The ony #'s we care about are the first 5.

Very interesting I've been in contact with a local rep for univar to get chemicals.    Glad I know how to read the dates now thanks.

I feel like the stuff I get at ice is weak every now and then.

I'm still confused here.  You say 3rd month 9th day.  What is the 6?

I was told that set of numbers will NOT tell you what you need.

Tell your CSR you want a CA with every order.  Certificate of Analysis.  That is the only way to know the TRUE date it was make/tested.

least that is what i learned / was told last friday.
