Elite Roof Cleaning Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Suggestions on this roof? I haven't cleaned any tile roofs simply because we don't have that many of them around here. This house is apps. 3,000 sq ft and 65% of house is covered like this. How many applications would i need to apply and any help on additives to remove the moss would be great. Will mother nature rinse this off if I spray it twice heavily? Any suggestions on price?I posted the pictures of this roof below

Apple Roof Cleaning (813) 655-8777 Report post Posted August 16, 2015 This is a very steep tile roof, and the moss will be a lot easier to remove if we KILL it first. Spray a 20 percent solution of SH to water on it first, then wait a few days, or up to a week, and respray it again if it did not die the first time. Once the moss is dead, it will be a lot easier to remove with a water hose, or a pressure washer, since this is a tile roof.

Richard Frisson Report post Posted August 18, 2015 20% sh in the mix are you crazy? that wont do anything. We clean tile roofs like this all the time. Rarely do we see a tile roof that isn't less dirty then that one. 50/50 on all tile roofs here. It's ok to use as high strength as you want when it comes to concrete, tile, slate etc. just make SURE a) they have a gutter system and b.) soak plants like hell or cover them if the day is not too hot.If we were to do it. Remove the bulk patches of moss first with a soft nylon bristle brush, then spray and then rinse with a setup somewhat of what bruce sullivan uses. Price? $3000.00 + taxReplace any split or broken tiles included with the sale. (up to 10 i would say)
bulletproof Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Would you bump up the amount of surfactant you use in your mix for this roof as opposed to what you would use for a less steep roof?
Richard Frisson Report post Posted August 18, 2015 i have done it, really makes no difference. if you are rinsing it I find that you just have more to rinse off. I only add a 250 ml to a 50 gal mix. when you clean a straight up and down siding wall nobody bumps up the surfactant and it cleans just fine. You may have to re spray the peaks as there is nothing from above running down on it. PeakOfPerfection Report post Posted August 19, 2015 Wow...and I thought it was going to be heavy moss! That roof is the norm around here. As Chris said...hit it, wait a few days, rinse with booster pump. As Richard said...50/50 mix, but make 100% sure you have gutters and that the gutters go into DRAINS that flow free and don't run into their pond/wetland. Don't forget to add gutter cleaning as a cost (or hire somebody to do it) as the gutters will be utterly full afterwards. And while you're up there, clean the chimney. 1 Big Shot Pressure Washing reacted to this
