I just recived 300 foot of 5/8 hose i figured the hose wouldnt make that big of a diffrence chris aid it would shoot like a new pump. I was running a 3/8 id hose for a long time being new and self taught seems that if it worked for the pressure washer it would work for this and its what came with my x jet so it had to be good. Putting that 5/8 hose on there was like nitrous for my little pump looks like a bleach fire hose now im super impressed with it. It sucks dragging all that heavy hose and reeling it up sucks even worse

Hey Doug,..going from 3/8" to 5/8" would make a huge difference,...but 1/2" would most likely been a good middle ground for you,..especially if you drop down to 200'.

There must be a reason for the 300',..but I think the the more common length is 200',..especially for residential.

*The bigger hose is also better for you pump if it's electric, especially when running longer lengths. The longer the hose the more friction loss your pump must overcome.

I got a big 20 foot trailer and some times its just not possible to get it in a drive way and most subdivisions I go to I like to park on the curb put signs and cones up so everyone sees who I am out there working and 300 foot is usualy long enough to get done what I need. Im usuing a air pump I would never go back to electric unless i needed a new boat anchor. but going from 300 foot of 3/8 to that 5/8 was like having 2 pumps back there. It was hard to justify the price just to replace the hose that there was no problems with but if I would of listened to what all yall were saying instead of being cheap id done this from the get go but dam that hose is heay

I was self taught too Doug, 25 years ago. I made an awful lot of mistakes, and made myself a promise to help people not make the same mistakes I did. My friend Jeff is correct, if you are running a 3/8 pump, or a 1/2 inch pump with a small, wheelbarrow type air compressor, 1/2 inch hose will work ok. But the more flow your pump has, the bigger your hose needs to be.  I always teach roof cleaners to pull all the hose they plan to use up on the roof with them. An  easy way to do this is to put the ladder up in the front corner of the house, then get up on the roof, and walk to the back of the roof as far away from the ladder as you can, and then pull up another few feet of hose, for good measure.  This way, you are not fighting your hose.

Not only does 3/8 hose rob your pumps performance, but that little ass hose will get under the shingles, and when you pull on it, it will rip the fuk out of them :(

Be glad it is gone .....

i use a 1/2 inch yamada kynar pump and a 5 hp blue point 30 gallon tank air compressor  from snap on. Also while on the subject with this new hose i can spray and i dont see the stream falling due to lack of air. It seems to me if i didnt have enough power i would have a good stream then see it fall till air built up. My question is would buyin a big air compressor make more improvent or the same results with less work. this 5 hp works great no issues but if a 18hp would be better then i may go get one.

If this is the air compressor you have,https://store.snapon.com/SNAP-ON-174-Air-Compressors-Single-Phase--Air-Compressor-Portable-Vertical-30-gallon-5-0-HP-Peak-125-max-PSI-Single-Phase-P642480.aspx    and you get the big Harbor Freight Compressor, you will think you have died and went to Heaven!  This compressor only has 7 cfm of air :(

no sir its a 5 horse power gas honda engine its big enough to run 3/4 power tools steady with out bogging down 1 inch tools pull to much air. What I want is the big northern tool air compressor I think its a 18 hp engine but if its not going to improve because my 5 hp is doing good enough then no need to waste the money.

Yes...oh yes. Maxing out the CFM on your pump will make for a very very happy pump indeed. You also have the CFM to upgrade to a bigger pump up the road (3/4") if you should so desire.
