REMOVING MY 3 REMOTE CALL FORWARDING NUMBERS ON THIS AND OTHER POSTS. HERE'S WHY I NEED TO AND YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BEFORE YOU GET REMOTE #'s TOO!: Back in around 1990, when everyone used landline phones instead of cell phones-I learned about Remote Call Forwarding numbers. I got a local number for Venice-Sarasota area 483--A local number for Englewood area 474-- and a local number for Port Charlotte-Punta Gorda areas 255- Back then I advertised in all 3 areas, using a few different phone books, covering those areas. In all, I had like 5-7 different individual phone books at a time going. Having those local numbers for those town areas, made potential customers see me as a local, instead of out of towner. My home phone number is an oddball starting with 698 and only covers rural areas, the largest being Rotonda. Now, I physically can only work 2 days a week and then take 5 days to recuperate from the pain and tiredness. SO! To make a short story long LOL I don't advertise in any phone books now and haven't for like 10 years! Modern day people are used to hiring companies that run off of cell phone numbers, many of which are not even Florida numbers! Few of them would even know that these old numbers were local for them??? SO! LOL I am getting rid of all numbers except my home phone, which is what all the other numbers ring in to, the 698 number. POINT BEING I'm visiting old posts on all the forums I have posted on and removing the 3 "Remote" numbers. If I leave them and a potential customer dials them-after I eventually shut them down, they will get "DEE DAA DEE THE NUMBER YOU HAVE CALLED IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE" Chances are they will then assume I am out of business and call the next roof cleaner / pressure washer on their list! It's going to be an enormous undertaking, but it will save me 2 things-$130.00 a month phone bills and 3/4ths of the telemarketer calls I get! When they see all 4 of my numbers, they call all 3 !! That's my story. So, if you do get remote call forwarding numbers, be sure to make an accurate list of the websites you put them on, so you have the option the edit them out or, if editing is not possible, make a reply post saying "I am now using only 1 phone number ###-467-%%%% "
