  1. Does your roof have dark gray, black or greenish color like this house shown below? Is there moss growing on your roof like on this house? If so, deterioration has begun and must be addressed immediately. Just like a dentist appointment, putting it off will only lead to further decay until it is too late and a costly replacement is the only option. Why Should You Care? Your cedar roof was expensive to install, will be expensive to repair and eventually will be even more expensive to replace. It’s in your best interest to maximize its useful life by scheduling a routine maintenance cleaning treatment before moss, lichen, mold, algae and fungi ruin your cedar roof. Have your ever had your cedar shake roof inspected? If it is five years or older, it is due for a checkup and cleaning. Just like our teeth, cedar must also be cleaned and maintained. A well maintained cedar shake roof should last 40 to 60 years. However, if it is not properly cleaned and maintained, the cedar shakes will eventually decay. Do we use power washing? No. Power washing relies upon brute pressure to clean a surface. Cedar is a soft wood and power washing can do more harm than good. Our roof treatment offers a “non-pressure” cleaning process which is designed specifically for cedar shake roofs. Our non-pressure cleaning process stopped the present deteriorating condition by removing the infestations. The cedar shake roof was returned to its intended functioning condition. No costly repairs or roof replacement was needed. Cost of treatment, in most cases, is less than 5% of the replacement cost! Fortunately the owners of this Naperville house called Advantage Roof Cleaning Company for their cedar roof cleaning before it was too late. To read more, go here. To contact us, go here.
  2. Cedar Shake Roof and Cedar Siding Cleaning in Schaumburg Cook County Brown rot fungus, commonly known as “dry rot,” presents itself as a black or dirt brown color. It commonly causes the wood to be dry and fragile, cracking across the grain. It is dangerous because it rapidly decays the cellulose and hemicellulose in the shingles, leaving a brown residue of lignin (the substance that holds the wood cells together). Brown rot is generally more serious than white rot, as it can quickly weaken the shingle before any visible signs are detected. If left untreated, the shingles will easily crumble into cubes, and turn into a powder when crushed. Moss, which is appears green and spongy retains constant moisture on the cedar shake. Furthermore, it does not permit the red cedar to breathe as it should. This causes the cedar shake wood to deteriorate rapidly. Be sure to periodically examine your cedar siding and cedar shake roof for the aforementioned colors. If you see any of them and suspect you may need a siding cleaner or roof cleaner contractor, be sure to contact a professional roofing and siding cleaner. The longer you put it off, the more damage will incur resulting in more costs to you. To read more, go here.
  3. Sullivan Roof Cleaning was chosen to clean the cedar roof on this 12 million dollar summer home in Charlevoix, Michigan. The great northern weather is harsh on a cedar roof. We just finished this cleaning May the 8th and had to work between the ever changing weather patterns this time of year. The attached photo is the front or lake side view but the whole roof was over 7,000 sq. ft. With the tree cover and overcast sky it is hard to get a good picture of the true results. The home owner was very pleased with the results and has asked us to schedule a maintenance program going forward. We are pleased this home owner decided to chose Sullivan Roof Cleaning over all the other service providers interviewed for this cedar roof cleaning service.
  4. Thompson Roof Cleaning and Power Washing LLC Spring Lake Roof Cleaning Services 07762 (877) 420-WASH or (732) 726-9261 Spring Lake NJ Exterior Soft Washing We do not use a pressure washer to clean roofs! We rarely ever need to step on the roof. We clean roofs by spraying on a proprietary wet foam. The detergent we use has 1 part sodium hypochlorite (bleach) which is used to kill moss, algae, and lichen. The detergent is left to soak in and kill these organisms at the root. Sodium hypochlorite is the product use by all local municipalities. It is added to our drinking water to keep it free of bacteria and viruses. Naturally its a lower amount than is used on a roof, but our point is that it is safe yet effective in neutralizing mold and mildew. Roof cleaning in Spring Lake is a fairly new service. These stains are the result of limestone that the roof manufacturer started adding to the shingle roughly 20 years ago. Soft washing a roof plays no part in dislodging roofing granules. Our soap is applied with small battery operated 12 volt agriculture sprayers. We cover and rinse all landscape and any run off is collected at the gutter leader Soft Power Washing Service Spring Lake NJ We have specifically calibrated detergents for every surface. We also soft wash sidings such as vinyl, stucco, cedar and even painted surfaces. We also soft wash cement, pool decks, vinyl fences, gutter whitening and more. All of our equipment is calibrated to soft wash. Most stains are organic mold. Our detergents dissolve this mold so afterwards it's just a matter of heavy rinsing. 5. Thompson Roof Cleaning & Power Washing Serving Somerset County Bridgewater New Jersey Soft-Power Washing Services Professional Roof Cleaning (877) 420-WASH or (732) 726-9261 3125 Woodbridge Ave Edison NJ Cleaning a Roof: Why & How A roof is most likely the most expensive part of the home. A roof should never be power washed! The roof is infested like weeds in a sidewalk. To insure the weed permanently disappears it must either be removed from the root or destroyed with a weed killer. But roofs are much more delicate than a cement sidewalk. Moss and other growth develop a root system into the shingle. If removed forcibly it can leave scars where it was attached. Our process works by allowing our manufacturer approved roofing detergent kill and sterilize the shingle. Our detergent contains an amount of sodium hypochlorite. This is the product used to sterilize swimming water in pools. It is safe when used properly and 100% compatible to the shingle yet completely removes moss, algae, black staining and streaks from mold, lichen, mildew, allergens and other organic pollutants. If you saw a video of someone using a machine on a roof that looks like a floor buffer, please know that this process is power washing on a roof. That device is hooked to a hose that runs to a pressure washer that is not shown in the video. The pressure on any roof should not exceed the pressure of a household spigot. GAF, maker of the popular Timberline shingle, has within their website to confirm the proper cleaning solution. Why is Soft-Washing Superior? There is a proper detergent for each specific stain. There are organic stains like moss, mold and mildew. There are also chemical reaction stains like rust or oxidation. Would it really make sense to blast away each surface? Learn more about roof cleaning and soft-washing in our VIDEO. Call us today and get a free estimate. Visit our home page at http://www.powerwashing-newjersey.com/. We service Bridgewater New Jersey and other surrounding Somerset County towns such as Warren, Martinsville, Far Hills, Bedminster, Basking Ridge, Greenbrook, Boundbrook, Somerset, Franklin, Hillsboro, Skillman, Somerville, Branchburg, and more. This process will not remove rust or other chemical reaction stains.
