  1. What is it that a client gets when they hire a professional roof cleaner? Some people say, "it's just spraying bleach on a roof", and they're wrong before the words even leave their mouth. What the client pays for when they hire us to do a roof cleaning isn't just some bleach sprayed on a roof. Professional roof cleaning contractors are using a much more powerful version of a chemical they barely know. In fact, we're purchasing it in just about the purest form they can manufacture and ship it. The client isn't paying for some monkey to trample their roof and lay waste to their landscaping with a chemical that can oxidize any organic matter to a pile of mush. How about a little lesson in the basics which RCIA certified roof cleaning contractors are well versed in. Professional roof cleaning companies are using 10-12.5% sodium hypochlorite, which is often sold as "pool chlorine" and in much lower concentrations as "bleach". When sold as household bleach, it can and is often be combined with other ingredients. Sodium hypochlorite is a strong oxidizing agent. Through the process of oxidation, the algae (actually cyanobacteria) is killed, and mostly removed. Rinsing helps this final removal process, but is often left to rain to finish. Using advanced proprietary cleaners along with the sodium hypochlorite helps remove the algae residue. This is effective if the roof is rinsed immediately, or later by rain. Spraying liquids and climbing roofs is not as simple as it seems, just because the ingredient is known. I know flour is in a cake, but I couldn't tell you how to bake one. Let's set aside a myth and miscommunication real fast. "Chlorine" is a gas, we don't clean with "chlorine". Sodium hypochlorite is often made by passing chlorine gas through sodium hydroxide, or through electrolysis of a heavy brine solution. In water sodium hypochlorite forms hypochlorous acid and a chlorite ion. Sodium hypochlorite oxidizes algae via the chlorite ions which basically give up their strength during the process, leaving behind nothing but sodium and hydrogen, a.k.a. salt water. Sodium hypochlorite breaks down rapidly in the sunlight, and this actually helps the oxidation and roof cleaning process. It also helps remove the strength from the formula during cleaning, which can help with protecting landscaping. Did you know it is one of the most environmentally friendly cleaning chemicals on earth? It's in everything, including our own food and water! The danger is minimal when handled properly, even for the environment. However, when handled improperly, a lot of damage can be done using such strong chemicals. When a client pays for a roof cleaning, they are paying for experts in their field. People who are educated and know how to wield these chemicals carefully and properly. Nobody will mistaken my deflated pile of smoldering carbon mush to be considered a cake, will they? Roof cleaning customers are paying for people who have perfected a craft, and can safely restore their image without damage. Does your roof cleaner really know what he's doing? Does he really comprehend the cleaners he's using, their properties, safe handling, and how and why the process works? If not, why hire them? It's obvious what a roof cleaning customer is really paying for. The clients are paying for someone who has the skill to lay waste to thousands of square feet of algae, moss, lichen, and other roof infesting organisms, without damaging their plants, finished on their homes, etc. As said experts, we all know that even the best roof cleaners can have difficulty. Low water supply, really hot day, steep roof, no gutters. Recipe for disaster. These clients aren't paying for some $100 "bleach" jockey to destroy their property. A roof cleaning customer is paying for someone who knows the chemicals, their safe handling and applications, the processes, precautions, and more. Clients are paying for roof cleaning companies that comprehend the process of oxidation that allows the removal of these organisms. They're paying for people who know how to care for the landscaping, the finishes on the home, and other things in the vicinity of the roof cleaning. They're paying for responsible roof cleaning contractors, hopefully RCIA certified experts, that know all the steps to make sure a roof cleaning goes off without a hitch, AND is there to stand behind their work in the unlikely event something does wrong. This is a point that can't be stressed enough. Our clients don't pay us just to "spray some bleach". They pay us to handle a delicate task, and take on the liability as well. Not everyone who can "spray bleach" can do that. If even the best of the best can have challenges roof cleaning, why on earth would ANYONE hire a jack of all trades Jim Bob with a pickup to clean their roof? There is simply too much at stake. What the client is really paying for is competent, safety conscious, diligent roof cleaners who are experts in their field. That's what they're really paying for. The expertise.....not "spraying bleach". Any dummy can buy some "bleach"...not everyone can handle proper, safe, approved roof cleaning methods wielding industrial strength sodium hypochlorite like a professional RCIA roof cleaning company can, AND stand behind their clients should any issues occur. Amazing results, and peace of mind are worth a thousands words. 3. Roof cleaning in Jacksonville, Florida, or anywhere else for that matter, is not an easy task. To properly clean a roof without damaging the roof itself, the landscaping, finishes on the home and it's surroundings is a task that takes experience, know how, and time to get it right. Roof cleaning is somewhat risky, climbing around on sloped surfaces, the risk of damage to the roof itself, the landscaping below, etc. There are many reasons to be careful who you hire for your roof cleaning. Many people wrongly assume roof cleaning is simple, and anyone can do it. These people seek out the lowest priced roof cleaning companies, and many pay heavily for it. This unfortunately leaves a bad taste in their mouths where roof cleaners are concerned. One thing to realize is that even experienced, certified roof cleaning companies can have issues at times. Roof cleaning is a delicate endeavor that requires a lot of thought, planning, and care to make sure it goes right. The key to a good roof cleaning is more in caring for the property around the roof. The solutions used to clean roofs can be dangerous in the wrong hands. There are also dangers of working at heights, spraying liquids, and walking on slippery wet surfaces. Hiring a certified roof cleaning company to handle your roof cleaning project for you is a great way to ensure you get someone who has the knowledge, experience, and equipment to safely and efficiently clean your roof. If you need a roof cleaning company in Jacksonville, Florida, call Ultrasoft Pressure Washing LLC today. RCIA certified roof cleaning experts you can count on. 904-304-0810 Look at the amazing results you can look forward to for your home. Note how plants in the drip line are covered by tarps to protect them from roof cleaning solutions. We don't take risks with our client's properties. Call us today.
  4. Here's a beautiful example of our certified barrel tile roof cleaning results. This old tile roof was cleaned safely using zero pressure and environmentally friendly methods approved by the Roof Cleaning Institute of America. A potential client recently stated that she was given another quote, for much cheaper than what any professional usually charges, and it sounded like the same process. It was her inclination to go with the other contractor, because why not? If it all sounds the same, it must be, right? That's not exactly true, and there are many reasons why. First, with Ultrasoft Pressure Washing LLC we are the only RCIA certified roof cleaning company currently active in the Jacksonville, Florida area. We have gone the extra mile to extend our education, and met the requirements needed to become certified roof cleaners. We take our work very seriously, and there are very few companies with our level of knowledge, training, and industry connections. Second we carry insurance that includes "care, custody, and control", which actually protects our client's property should something happen. Most companies carry general liability that offers little protection to home and business owners should they damage something in the process. Third, damage is a serious thing to consider when it comes to roof cleaning. Ultrasoft Pressure Washing utilizes RCIA approved methods that guarantee zero damage, and no loss of warranty due to improper practices. In fact, our company is frequently used by shingle manufacturers and insurance companies for warranty cleanings. Even if a method sounds similar, and uses similar processes, there are limits to how a roof should be cleaned. Zero pressure roof cleaning uses specific chemical mixtures to clean the roof of algae and other organic contaminants. If these mixtures are used at too high of a concentration they can and will damage your roof. That goes for asphalt, metal roofing, epdm or rubber roof surfaces, and other types of roofing materials. The wrong mixtures run higher risks of damaging landscaping and other surfaces not intended for roof cleaning solutions. To top it off, what sounds like the same type of chemicals for roof cleaning can be very, very different. Sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite are very similar sounding, and too much of either is a bad thing. However, the properly metered ratios and concentrations of one over the other can safely clean any type of roofing materials. Just like when buying a car, a lot of things sound the same. Both have wheels and tires, steering wheels, doors, windows, mirrors, etc. However, nobody would dare confuse a Yugo for a Ferrari. Indirectly, they sound like the same thing, but there is no comparing a Yugo to a Ferrari. They don't even make Yugos anymore, if that says anything. Same goes for roof cleaning in Jacksonville, Florida. You can go with the Yugo because it sounds like the same thing, but the Ferrari of roof cleaning companies is Ultrasoft Pressure Washing LLC and there is simply no comparison. We offer: Family Owned and Operated Business Uniformed, Professional, Friendly Technicians Safe Practices - We don't take risks with your property or ourselves for that matter. 5. Barrel tile roofs are popular here in Jacksonville, Florida and they get dirty fast! There are hundreds of neglected high dollar, nice barrel tile roofs around town that are just plain black and nasty! There are dozens upon dozens upon dozens of roof cleaning companies in Jacksonville, Florida. 6. We wanted to share this awesome example of just how dramatic and appealing a roof cleaning can be. The black streaks on your roof don't always mean you need a new roof. Just because it's ugly, doesn't mean you show throw down $10,000 to make your property look great again. Years of mold, algae, lichens, and even moss growth can be removed using a simple, safe, zero pressure roof cleaning method, restoring your roof to it's natural appearance and color. Our RCIA certified roof cleaning company utilizes the right approved cleaning methods to erase years of ugliness and make your property shine again. Roof cleaning results are instant and can last for years before you have to clean it again! Regular maintenance can help ensure your roof lasts like it should by removing destructive organisms that can severely shorten the life of your roof system. If your roof is maintained well, and not beyond it's serviceable lifespan, our technicians can restore your curb appeal in just one visit! There are also some added benefits to roof cleaning. For instance, we find that driveways, sidewalks, patios, and other things directly under rain runoff areas are the most heavily infested with algae! The blackest concrete we see is usually under a downspout, and it's no wonder why. The algae that causes the black streaks on roofs make streaks because the spores spread downward with the rain. These photos are a great example of this. You can see clean areas below the dormers that stick out from the roof. We often see these clean areas under skylights, attic vents, plumbing vent stacks, and other protrusions from the roof. Due to their being less runoff, there is also less algae and black streaking in these areas. When that water runs down to concrete below, it gets dirtier than other areas that don't receive it. Keeping your roof clean means everything below it that is affected by its runoff will stay clean longer as well. Removing these streaks makes your roof last longer, lowers heating and cooling costs, and a proper roof cleaning will do more for your curb appeal for less money, than even painting the entire house would do! Look at these fabulous roof cleaning results below. If you find yourself in need of a qualified, certified, educated professional company to help you with your roof cleaning project in or around Jacksonville, Florida call Ultrasoft Pressure Washing today 904-304-0810 or visit our roof cleaning website and request a free quote.
  7. Here is an example of a beautiful tile roof cleaning. This particular roof spans nearly 8,000 sq. ft. and had just been cleaned 1.5 years before the photos below. The reason for sharing is that this roof really shouldn't require cleaning again so soon, but it was cleaned improperly. The previous "roof cleaner" used high pressure, and actually stripped the glazing from these tiles. The damage done is irreversible, and leaves the tiles looking dull, compared to their original appearance. You would think that pressure washing a tile roof might be alright, because tiles are tough. The issue is that they are not meant to withstand such high pressure close up blasting. Inexperienced roof cleaning companies who use pressure washers to clean roofs are causing lasting damage, voiding warranties, and they don't even get to the root of the problem. Some may use a high pressure wand and blast away at individual tiles or shingles, while others may pressure wash using a concrete surface cleaner. Presumably they dial down the pressure, but even that is still wrong and can cause unwanted damage. The fast swinging arm of a surface cleaner can break tiles if it comes into contact with them. Surface cleaners are designed for flat surfaces, not rounded tiles, so it won't even blast all the algae off evenly. Speaking of algae, that's the part these high pressure roof destroyers are missing. Some may use "shampoos" or other weak cleaners, but they still rely on damaging high pressure blasting to clean your roof. The cleaning doesn't last very long, because it's algae, moss, lichens, and other organic contaminants that cause a dirty roof. If the cleaners you're using do not kill these organic invaders, their roots and spores will remain no matter how much pressure you blast them with. This means they will infest the roof again quickly, essentially negating the good they may have done by voiding your warranty with high pressure! Ultrasoft Pressure Washing LLC is a qualified, RCIA certified tile roof cleaning company serving Jacksonville, Florida Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and surrounding areas. Our zero pressure process meets all RCIA roof cleaning guidelines, and will safely restore your roof's appearance and your property's curb appeal. Since our cleaning uses RCIA approved methods that actually kill and remove the source of the problem, your roof stays clean longer. Instead of inflicting more damage and voiding your warranty like pressure washing your roof does, we return your roof to it's original appearance safely and nearly instantly! Have a look at how our zero pressure cleaning method made this roof look like new again! For the best pressure washing and roof cleaning in Jacksonville, Florida and surrounding areas, call Ultrasoft Pressure Washing today. 904-304-0810
  8. I'm just going to copy/paste what I posted on facebook for the benefit of our roof cleaners here. Dirt daubers. I've tried it all. I have/had my own method using a weak caustic mix, which worked great for daubers, but is dangerous and difficult to use. Bring in the dragon juice. Oh boy. Andy Vickers this stuff is amazing for daubers. Listen to me folks. We have some of the worst daubers you can imagine. A lot of the stuff people say to use, our daubers will laugh at, and you'll be up close with a toothbrush hand scrubbing like a clown. Not any more. Dragon Juice seriously erases these things like nobody's business. At 20-1 ratio they melt like a hot knife through butter. A little agitation with a brush, and they are toast. This is the holy grail of dauber removal. No damage to anything surrounding, no streaking paint from acids, no melting paint off aluminum with caustic. None of that. Check out the video.
  9. Here is a great example of how regular maintenance can help extend the life of your roof. This asphalt shingle roof cleaning we did recently made a huge difference in the appearance, but it also helped extend the life of this roof. This photo is from the back of the roof before and after cleaning. Although this roof wasn't very old at 6-8 yrs old, and had no trees covering it, the roof was still subject to algae and mold. The spores that affect your roof are airborne, and can spread from one home to the next. The black streaks caused by the algae on your roof usually take a number of years to become noticeable. In this case, the roof actually didn't look too terrible, until part of it was cleaned. Looking at our Jacksonville roof cleaning photos, you can immediately see just how bad the roof was before our technicians restored it. Many people think as long as their roof is out in the open, gets good sun, and doesn't have tress over it, that there is nothing to worry about. The truth is, devastating roof algae can attack any roof under almost any conditions. This goes double for humid and mostly tropical areas like Florida. If your roof is older than five years old, and it's color is darkening or looking dull, you need a roof cleaning. The algae that infests roofs can cause damage and granule loss, as well as lower the curb appeal and value of your property. Save money over replacement by having a professional certified contractor like Ultrasoft Pressure Washing LLC clean your roof for you. Have questions about roof cleaning? Call our top Jacksonville, Florida roof cleaning experts today. 904-304-0810

  11. We'll Clean What's growing on your Roof, House and Driveway. Asphalt roofs in Jacksonville, Orange Park and Most of Florida are being infested by a DarkGreen Algae (commonly Called black mold). The technical term for the algae is Gloeocapsa Magma. Gloeocapsa Magma is spread by wind and animals, and grows from a small dot to a spot to a streak. As the colony grows, and will hold moisture, which enables the entire colony to grow even more rapidly. Many times a homeowner will just notice a spot and in no time, half the asphalt roof shingles are covered. Increased moisture levels lead to the growth of lichen, mold and even moss. When lichen are present a phycobiont relationship exists between the Gloeocapsa Magma (provides the photosynthesis algal component) and a lichen (the fungal portion of the colony). This Algae can also be tracked into your house from the drives and walks and grow in your carpeting and other areas of your home. Luckily the Gloeocapsa Magma Algae can be removed through thorough roof cleaning using quality roof algae cleaners recommended by the ARMA (Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association).
