  1. Looks more like lichen damage to me. On the corner peaks in those areas like that usually i find the lichen really taking its toll on the roof. Who installed that roof? That last photo looks like a child put that valley together. Do most of the houses you clean look like that? I never see you clean higher property value homes.
  2. Been looking on the market for a bucket truck for a while now. Not sure which one would be ideally best for me. There seems to be a whole other business in roof cleaning with a bucket truck. I never get calls from the houses that have insane pitches and are absolutely unreachable from a ladder. If anyone could give me a bit of insight on the what would be good for the total boom length, side reach, what type of lift (position), and anything else that's important. I plan on doing only large homes with this. There is a F-700 60 foot Altec boom going for 10,000 CAD, which i was tempted to buy, but i would like some help and direction first. (i tried replying to a post i created the other day, but was moved to the paid forums , lol)
  3. should have come and say hi. You were only 25 minutes away once you crossed the border into abbotsford
  4. You think cleaning a roof at 10-12% strength and rinse it the same day will cause the roof to break down quicker? That's hard to believe.
  5. His $200 pump will destroy all other pumps, depending on the air compressor you get. the versamatic pumps are great little pumps that will last you and be very reliable. Kevins pumps are just capable of soo much more lol
  6. 3 year for us, and i'm close to Kevin. Warranty has terms and conditions. If they don't read it, too bad so sad. I have noted "no charge for our product, but labor charges may apply". Warranty is a 50/50 thing, so everyone is happy.
  7. I take my time and still make a fortune lol. 1 truck does 30k a month when consistently busy
  8. Yeah if we contract a rinse and if some of the moss that doesn't come off usually does in a few months - 6 months at most. If we just spray the roofs it will be all gone in 6 months no rinse, Especially if it's in the period of summertime. But yeah that weed type moss makes it seem like it's attached to the plywood of the roof lol, well rooted.
  9. lmao... And yes $4,000.00 minimum for a tile roof of that size if rinsed. Additional for pitches, accessibility and whatnot. We just finished the last tile roof in a neighbourhood where we did them all. We charged minimum $2,000 for each one. 3 - 5,000 Sq Ft. We usually always come in with higher bids then most competitors, but with confidence and good marketing / advertising which lands us the job most of the time
  10. Lol I have tried using high powered vacs to remove moss as a test and it doesn't do much. Lots of moss up here is quite light and easy to remove if it's been dried out by the sun for a few weeks. Other asphalt roofs have the most gnarliest moss and require a deep soaking with the chems (roofs generally that are 20 years old + that have never been cleaned). But 90% of the time, the most aggressive moss is near the peaks of the roofs on the north side. The rest is really easy quick knock off rinse. Lichens on our asphalt roofs are a piece of cake, algae can be a bit weird... certain areas in town the algae can get very very thick and have a red layer of algae over a black layer of algae. Sometimes with stucco siding we come across red algae and it requires 3-5% to clean the exterior. Lots of cautious measures have to be considered when we clean siding anything over 2% concentration. Haha that video of the bristle broom kevin... I had one of those and you're totally right, it wrecks the shingles. The user removing the moss on the roofs spits back granules at your face if you don't have the splash guard on. A local guy in town has one and continues to use it to remove moss on asphalt roofs.
  11. Clients put trust into a professional company that has a good reputation. When they see all the algae is gone and moss looks like cotton balls they clearly know its completely dead and will come off with the weather. Most pick that method to save a few hundred bucks
  12. That was a shed roof we did last fall LOL. That was 1 of 2 FULL trailer loads of moss / debris from the roof
  13. That's a sick wrap, just gave me a great idea for my trailer!
  14. I don't know but i have done 4 stories with my 5850, haven't noticed any shorter life yet either boosting the pressure on the pump. The advice above is all theory based imho. i used to easily downstream 4-5 stories with a 0030 with extension wands = more aerodynamic / better stream. There are cheaper much better solutions like wand extentions (only 2-4 feet) to get higher areas. a massive air rig system like yours peak is really only feasible one for "spray all day" jobs. I only do a handful of massive strata roof sprays in the year which in turn is not a smart investment. There are so many more small strata / houses where i live in Chilliwack. Most house contracts i do now is bulk moss removal with a pool broom, gutter clean, and spray/no rinse (1-2 hours of work). It's a more realistic roof cleaning bill for the customer and we can get more done in a day. 500-700 per house and we can do 4-6 in 1 day. I used to aim more on rinsing the whole roof after spray but the prices go over $1000.00 per roof (average 2 story roof clean). Also our booster pumps do close to 16 gpm, connected to 2 or 3 water outlet sources on the homeowners property. We use Leader pumps with a hydrotronic. nobody wants to haul water, we only do if the town has a water reserve with high calcium andor high PPM.
  15. I am really looking forward to do some cedar roofs with Bruce's ultimate solution. Just waiting for what feels like ages for the weather to be able to do so. Up here our cedar roofs get so so dirty. I will post pics when we get our first few done!
  16. Just put the damn bulkhead on the top and a solid draw tube fastened to it. Any proper roof system is self priming! draw from the top people, this is much safer if anything goes wrong. For rinsing get a proper water tank and install a bulkhead on the UNDERSIDE at the lowest point of the tank (there are tanks designed for this). Use banjo valves and quick connects!
  17. You're right Chris we do. Even driving more west towards Vancouver the algae and moss look different. Our tile roofs are a nightmare to clean, and that's doing it the right way. Out on Vancouver island jungles grow on roofs haha
  18. For anybody looking for a setup of instructions to make your own, i removed it a loonnnng time ago, because i could view all the photos through google. Every photo had text on them with parts etc. It was a very basic setup and i would make a much better one in the future. I cannot post it on here due to the amount of reach it has past premium members, sorry guys.
  19. I use a 100 psi 5.5 gpm 12v pump, and i love it. Crank the allen key at the bottom of the pump 1 or 2 turns (clockwise, it boosts the pressure), you will get amazing range. I used to use air for spraying and use high flow pressure washers for rinsing, no more. 12v pumps and jet booster pumps now, it's much faster also. Also completely cutting the extra gasoline cost everyday($20-$50) and extra mechanical parts, maintenance, etc. I don't advise 60 psi unless all your roofs are all easy pz and walkable. Out here, i need all the range i can get.
  20. It rains 161 days a year on average here in Chilliwack. The average temperature is 15 - 20 C haha. Yeah when summer hits the reaction is so quick on the roof. When it's 7 C like it is right now, i have to use a 50/50 mix and wait 10 minutes until it's done its course.
  21. yeah lol i see that. I deal with 8/12 + pitches every day. And with your constant heat you probably save so much on SH
