  1. Chemical Mixing

Do not mix butyl based products with sodium hypochlorite (bleach) or other oxidizers. Bleach is an oxidizer and butyl is a solvent. Mixing solvents with oxidizers has to potential to generate heat and possible polymerization. 2-Butoxyethanol (Butyl Cellusolve), Butyl Acetate (Ethylene glycol, Glycol ether EB), d-limonene (citric acid) are the most common. All are solvents and most are flammable, combustible and toxic. Solvents are chemicals that break down other chemicals which make them good for degreasers, paint thinners, inks, etc. Sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, sodium percarbonate, etc are oxidizers. Oxidizers change compounds from one thing to another, not dissolve it all together. Bleach doesn't dissolve mildew, it rearranges its molecules essentially killing it. So when you mix butyl and bleach and apply it to a substrate, you then have one chemical (butyl) trying to dissolve the dirt and everything else it comes into contact with including the other chemical while the bleach is trying to do the opposite, you set up the possibility for a chemical reaction. It's not likely anything will happen other than maybe generate some heat and eventually may gel making it unusable, except with acetate which could combust. Mixing sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite is OK because they are both oxidizers and both alkaline which means they are both trying to achieve the same result. 2. Chemicals We Know

Sodium Hypochlorite: Sodium hypochlorite is a chemical compound with the formula NaOCl. Sodium hypochlorite solution, commonly known as bleach, is frequently used as a disinfectant and as a bleaching agent. Sodium Hydroxide: Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), also known as lye or caustic soda or sodium hydrate, is a caustic metallic base. Forming a strongly alkaline solution when dissolved in a solvent such as water, caustic soda is widely used in many industries, mostly as a strong chemical base in the manufacture of pulp and paper, textiles, drinking water, soaps and detergents. Worldwide production in 1998 was around 45 million tonnes. Sodium hydroxide is also the most common base used in chemical laboratories, and it is also widely used as a drain cleaner. Trisodium Phosphate: Trisodium phosphate (TSP), available at most hardware stores in white powder form, is a cleaning agent, stain remover and degreaser, commonly used to prepare surfaces for painting. It can also be called trisodium orthophosphate and has the chemical formula Na3PO4. It is a highly water-soluble ionic salt. Solutions of it dissolved in water have an alkaline pH. Sodium Percarbonate: Sodium percarbonate is an addition compound of sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide . It is a white crystalline water-soluble chemical compound. When dissolved into water, it releases H2O2 and soda ash (sodium carbonate).Detergent or bleach compositions formulated with sodium percarbonate have a strong stain removal capability. It is very effective as a laundry presoak for heavily stained articles. It is color safe. It brightens colors and prevents fabric from becoming yellowed or darkened. Sodium percarbonate is effective as a disinfectant on both bacteria and viruses. New coating technologies have helped give sodium percarbonate stability levels similar to sodium perborate's in detergent formulations used at moderate temperatures. 3. Softwashing in Trinidad & Tobago

April 27, 2013 at 10:49pm Have you liked our page yet? If not please take a minute of your Google time and give some support and motivation as we continue to challenge larger companies here in Trinidad & Tobago that claim to be #1 but yet still use traditional pressure washing as their solution for moss removal. Share with friends and family and help us introduce The Revolution. As residents of the Caribbean we all know too well how the humid climate of the Caribbean can allow the rapid accumulation of organisms like algae, mold and mildew to take root on just about every surface on the exterior of your home or business. This includes: siding, asphalt roofs, tile roofs, concrete driveways, sidewalks, pool enclosures, brick pavers, you name it. if it's outdoors, it will get dirty, moldy, and plain unsightly within a very short amount of time. The key is to staying on top of this is by making exterior pressure washing, roof cleaning and soft washing part of a routine maintenance plan for your home or business. Stop the high pressure cleaning of roofs...You may save now but it would cost more in the long run... Stop the high pressure cleaning of roofs...You may save now but it would cost more in the long run... There are many benefits to keeping your home exterior free of the algae, mold and mildew. Some are for aesthetic reasons, while others are for more serious reasons that can cost you a lot more money down the road.Unfortunately, there is no magic solution to permanently stop the assault of these nasty green and brown organisms that so vigorously attack the surfaces of our homes and roofs here in Trinidad and Tobago. The key is to kill the algae, mold and mildew all the way down to the root. This will allow your surfaces to stay cleaner for much longer than by just blasting away the top layer of filth with a pressure washer, yet leaving the remnants of living spores to quickly take root and re-infest the area.Simply put, we believe we have helped take the pressure washing and roof cleaning industries to the next level here in Trinidad.
